![]() Well, that's a bunch of bullhockey - the powertrain on these vehicles is warrantied for 10yr/100k if you're the first owner, but that drops to 5yr/60k if you purchase pre-owned. Gave them the warranty info and they passed it along - claim came back denied, as the contract specifically excludes "electronically controlled clutch assembly" components. They came back with the same diagnosis - transmission needs to be replaced. So, I took it to the dealership at which it was purchased. I’d purchased an aftermarket B2B warranty (from the dealer - silly me) and, as I found out, there was a clause within the service contract that stated the vehicle has to be taken to the selling dealership if the breakdown occurred within 40mi of that location. The first dealership I took the vehicle to told me that the transmission needed to be replaced. The transmission in my vehicle encountered a failure towards the end of July (wouldn’t shift into reverse, very anemic acceleration, hesitant from stops, very late shifts). Unfortunately, it has been quite problematic as of late and I can’t help but feel like Hyundai America and the Hyundai dealership that it is currently being maintained at are trying to get one over on me. Purchased in 2019 w 16k mi on it, off-lease. ![]() I own a 2017 Hyundai Tucson Limited (w/ 7spd dual-clutch transmission). Thanks everyone who participates and helps each other. Just discovered this sub, and I think it’s awesome. I'm requesting that the dealership/Hyundai eat the cost of the dual-clutch relative to the overall repair, as it was warrantied by the dealer and the problem occurred in the same manner it did initially. This did not fix the problem, and now Hyundai is recommending the transmission AND dual-clutch assembly be replaced with all new equipment at a cost of ~$1800 to me (not including rental charges incurred during this time). Hyunda (apparently?) recommended replacement of the actuator assembly. Worked for two months (4k miles) then the problem recurred in the same exact manner as it did initially. Dealership warrantied their work for 12mo/12k miles. ![]() Split the cost of replacing the dual-clutch assembly with Hyundai. Started a case with Hyundai consumer affairs. Aftermarket B2B extended warranty purchased through the selling dealership specifically excluded the transmission. Two Hyundai dealerships recommended the transmission be replaced. TL DR - Pre-owned 2017 Tucson dual-clutch transmission failed at 72k. If you're trying to decide what car to buy or looking for advice on a specific model.
